Eva Gubbins

Technician

Project description

As a research technician, I support researchers across all three of the flagships within MDR. My background in Bioanalysis and Biotechnology, Toxicology and Nanomaterials (as well as many years working with the Medical Device field provides a strong theoretical knowledge of many areas within the MDR focus.

The facilities within the Merln Department at Maastricht University where I am located provide plenty of diversity in my day-to-day activities in the lab. In the controlled environment within the micro-/nano (bio) fabrication and fluidics cleanroom, I support the production of high throughput screening platforms and help maintain the state of the art facility. I am also involved in characterising materials with various techniques (contact angle measurements, microscopy and ICP-MS). Helping maintain the daily running of labs is another core responsibility of my role. In the coming year I hope to expand my knowledge of Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP) technology for fabricating individual micro-and nanostructures.
