DRIVE-RM Consortium Awarded Prestigious NWO Summit Grant!
We are excited to announce that the DRIVE-RM consortium has been awarded the prestigious NWO Summit Grant of €37.5 million!
This consortium is led by Marianne Verhaar from UMC Utrecht, with key contributions from: Carlijn Bouten from Eindhoven University of Technology, Jos Malda from UMC Utrecht, Jeroen Bakkers from Utrecht University and Hubrecht Institute, Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research, Clemens van Blitterswijk from Maastricht University.
The awarding ceremony, held on May 24, 2024, was organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) and NWO. It celebrated the importance of top-tier research in the Netherlands and featured prominent attendees, including Minister Dijkgraaf and Marcel Levi, Chairman of the Board of NWO.

The project, “Driving Regenerative Medicine to Achieve Lasting Cures for Chronic Diseases,” unites top scientists in regenerative biology, engineering, and medicine. Our mission is to tackle chronic diseases by enhancing the body’s natural healing abilities. We will explore patient-specific regeneration processes and develop advanced implantable biomaterials with intelligent, life-like properties. Our goal is to revolutionise the treatment of damaged tissues and organs.
