ISAB member Prof. David Mooney visited MDR
Prof. David Mooney – Harvard University Cambridge, USA
Subsequently to our MDR Annual meeting, Prof. David Mooney visited the Institute of Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS) in Eindhoven on December 6th. Prof. Mooney is one of the member of our International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB).
The laboratory of Prof. Mooney aims to make cellular and molecular therapies more effective and practical approaches to treat disease. Basic science studies are used to study the mechanisms by which chemical or mechanical signals are sensed by cells and alter cell function. The results of these studies are then used to design new biomaterials that can be used in a variety of drug delivery, immunotherapy, and regenrative medicine projects. Prof. Mooney is a leader in the fields of biomateirals, mechanotransduction, drug delivery, tissue engineering and immunoengineering. He is a Professor of Bioengineering in the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and a Core Faculty Member of the Wyss Institute at Harvard University. He is a member of several national academies and has won numerous awards for his research and his mentorship/teaching. Besides his outstanding role in the US, Prof. Mooney is a ISAB member of the MDR consortium.
On the 6th of December Prof. Mooney gave a plenary lecture at the ICMS in Eindhoven. Many scientists came to listen to his inspiring work and discussed scientific questions. Before and after his lecture he spoke with MDR scientists to discuss their research in more depth and in this way gathered more insight in the MDR program. A very successful day!
